About

Nice to meet you, I’m Cassie. Born in Toronto, Ontario, I now live in Squamish, British Columbia with my dog, Scarlet. We are both passionate ultra-trail runners, mountain adventurers and curious by nature. I have been a national level athlete most of my life in various sports, but firmly believe my sense of play is inseparable from my competitive drive.

My curiosity about people and human nature has led me to earn a few degrees in psychology and pursue a professional career as a psychotherapist. For over a decade I have worked with high performers including students in professional degree programs, athletes, and entrepreneurs. I also hold a masters degree in business, entrepreneurship and technology and have dabbled in a few business ventures of my own.

When I’m not on the trails or running a therapy session you can find me learning my grandpa’s harmonica, enjoying local breweries, restaurants and coffee shops, snowboarding at Whistler, SUPing around the Howe Sound, riding my bike, and (of course) providing endless belly rubs for Scarlet.

  • I have been working as a counsellor (CCC) and psychotherapist (RP) since 2010 and have spent the majority of those years providing clinical services for students in professional programs within post-secondary environments. During this time I primarily worked within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia.

My focus in these roles has involved a range of mental health services, including one-on-one therapy sessions, group and workshop facilitation, program and resource development, mental health advocacy, wellbeing promotion, and faculty consultations.

Clinically, I have a client-centered, research-based approach. I place high priority on collaborating with my clients to best understand their needs in order to create positive, sustainable change. I specialize in working with high performance individuals and have training and expertise in anxiety and stress management, resiliency, mindfulness, CBT as well as neuroscience-based strategies for optimal mental health. • Much of my life has been spent training and competing in sport. I grew up as a competitive gymnast, with several years spent on the Canadian tumbling team winning a few national titles and even earning a team bronze for Canada.

In my twenties , I played competitive ultimate (frisbee) nationally and internationally on both co-ed and women’s teams. My ultimate career ended due to a complete achilles tendon rupture at which point I thought I was done with competitive sport, but then I discovered trail running.

In my early thirties, with newfound gratitude for a healthy body and the ability to run, I found solace and passion in running long distances in wild spaces. I dove into competitive ultra-trail running and was quickly successful, competing twice for Canada at the Trail World Championships, earning a national title, and even obtaining a few other podium finishes internationally. You can check out some of my features in the media as well as my full running resume below.

These days I am competing less and enjoying my own mountain and trail running adventures with Scarlet as my loyal running companion.
